First Flush Tea

On the west side of the ridge over which the toy train passes lies the Castleton Estate, a mere few kms south of the center of Kurseong Township. The estate is at a elevation of 2950 - 7500 feet, and has a planted area of 170.96 hectars producing a relatively modest 30,545 Kgs of Tea.
Famous for its delicate, flowery nose, and clear liquor, Castleton teas have been long prized in the west for their unique characteristics. Castleton teas have long fetched high price in the market, with reaching an all time high of $360 per kg! Castleton Tea Estate, owned by the Goodricke Group, is also the first garden to receive the ISO 9002 certification.
This first flush is a large sized bold leaf with broken pieces, blackish in appearance but with a hint of green in it. This tippy tea will produce a beautiful golden liquor with an outstanding flavor and boldness that will scintillate you. A hint of astringency is not to be avoided for it will leave a sweet after-taste.
