Down in the plains, just west of the border of Bangladesh, lies the state of Bihar, famous for its maverick Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav! Mr. Yadav is practically illeterate but wields such political power in this land that when the current (2005-8) coalition goverment came into power, Mr. Yadav was awarded the Railway Ministry, a job not for the faint of heart. Yet, the remarkable Mr. Yadav single handedly turned the money loosing enterprise into a profitable enterprise.
Before Mr. Yadav became the folk hero and put Bihar on the map, Bihar was already well known Bodh Gaya, where Gautam Buddha found enlightenment, and found the great religion of Buddhism. Bihar also boasts Nalanda University, a seat of learning during the rein of Ashoka, the Great during 273-232 BC.
While Kishanganj, Bihar is known for being involved in tea trade, Doke plantation is one of the few estates planted in the plains that have decided to focus their attention on producing high quality tea. This white tea is a result of their efforts. This tea produces very light, mellow liquor with slightly malty taste. Just look at the gorgeous leaf! Its absolutely a site to behold both dry as well as steeped. If you are a white tea fan, this tea is a MUST TRY!
